The current political correctness environment has become quite Orwellian in its dealings with dissenters. A Canadian scientist that has also dared to question the consensus view is climatologist Tim Ball. He is currently being sued for stating his view by Michael E. Mann, director of the Earth System Science Center at Pennsylvania State University. Michael Mann is the creator of the infamous "hockey stick graph" in 1999 that asserts rapidly rising temperatures are occurring due to man made carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The chart was consequently debunked by McIntyre and McKitrick in 2003.
Climate change is probably one of the better examples of groupthink that exists both in the media and society in general. No one is permitted to oppose the so called scientific view, including scientists.
