Coronal Mass Ejection Alert

Longtime reader Bill alerted me to a solar event today.

We may ask ourselves, is this Coronal Mass Ejection a Black Swan event in the making?

Perhaps it is merely a warning of solar events yet to come as, according to Spaceweather.com it appears only to deal the Earth a glancing blow.

The speckles are caused by energetic charged particles hitting the camera's CCD array. This is what we mean by a "radiation storm"; the particles were accelerated by the explosion and are now peppering Earth-orbiting satellites and spacecraft like SOHO.

Although the blast was not squarely Earth-directed, it will affect our planet. The CME should deliver a glancing blow to Earth's magnetic field during the late hours of June 8th or June 9th. High-latitude sky watchers should be alert for auroras when the CME arrives.

Another site warns of a planetary alignment on June 13th. In the past, there have been earthquakes associated with these alignments.
Unfortunately, it appears that New Zealand could be the target once again of the shifting Earth.

In the current economic and stock market environment, which is quickly turning bearish, will a significant earthquake trigger a flight to safety?
