The Difference Between The US And Canada?

This Sarasota, Florida Deputy was fired after roughly handling the arrest of a special needs teenage girl on a bus.

This RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) officer was placed on administrative duties after kicking a man who was not resisting arrest. The man had suffered a brain injury previously and was hired by a golf course to shoot at and scare geese away. He had a permit for the shotgun.

My question:

What kind of country is Canada that claims to be peace loving, yet severely restricts ownership of guns by citizens, and does little to stop violence by the police who have most of the guns?

  1. It's one bad example, which is being examined. Your exaggeration is not helpful.

  2. I think my "exaggeration" is very helpful. Canadians have this deluded belief that gun control restrictions keep them "safe". Did you know that Edmonton pop. 1 million has more violent crime per capita than Phoenix a city of over 4 million with thousands of guns?

  3. And how is gun ownership going to solve the problem ?

  5. Gun ownership of itself does not solve the problem but is a symptom of a deeper issue. The increasing restrictions of civil liberties disguised as safety, forced upon a naive public are the issue, in my view. In Canada, over the past couple of decades, there seems to be a growing disregard by some members of the police for the disarmed citizens they are hired to protect. It seems that this disregard in some officers has grown to outright contempt. This underlying attitude within the law enforcement community, combined with a media that vilifies guns, and a public that wants government to meet their every need is growing uncomfortably close to the conditions that occurred in 1930s Germany. I believe citizens should be protected by the police, not need protection from the police.

  6. Bill - Gun ownership will make you a warrior and indomitable spirit of mankind ? Interesting analogy...

Because of a few bad people you can't blame everybody right ? Look at the numbers of issues we've had (in US) with crack-heads claiming innocent lives, shooting random people in public places.
