Evidence Of The Pathological State

From Bloomberg:

Wikileaks Founder Arrested

The arrest of prominent Wikileaks founder Mr. Julian Assange is a cause of great concern.
The timing of the warrant seems quite suspect given the nature of Mr. Assange's new enemy, the US government.
What is particularly disconcerting is the denial of bail for a charge that is not of the most serious nature.
This action, combined with cyber attacks on his site, and the coercion involved with Amazon and PayPal refusing to process financial transactions, is reminiscent of another high profile whistle-blower that was brought to his knees when he was Governor of New York once he went after Goldman Sachs, Mr. Eliot Spitzer. A link to one of Spitzer's articles follows here.

There is much more here than meets the eye. As we discussed in a recent article, the cooperation of government power and corporate power (banking in particular) lead to terrible abuses of the justice system. While we have no sympathy for Mr. Assange's extracurricular activities, we certainly see the rapid deterioration of civil liberties that the case highlights.

Consider the following quote regarding the Federal Reserve:

“This is a Government of the people, by the people, for the people. Consequently, nothing should be concealed from the people. The man who deceives the people is a traitor to the United States. The man who knows or suspects that a crime has been committed is an accessory to it. Mr. Speaker, it is a monstrous thing that this great Nation of people to have its destinies presided over by a traitorous Government board (Federal Reserve) acting in secret concert with international users. Every effort has been made by the Federal Reserve Board to conceal its power but the truth is the Federal Reserve Board has usurped the Government of the United States.”
June 1932, Congressman
Louis McFadden

It seems to this writer that the state is becoming increasingly pathological both in its abuse of the public purse and its treatment of citizens like Mr. Assange, who dare oppose its ends.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

  2. Thank you for the link Bill. It seems that nations everywhere are attempting to build up their gold reserves in view of the unfolding crisis.
