Fractal Father

On October 14, 2010, Benoit Mandelbrot passed away.  He leaves an extraordinary mathematical legacy on fractals that is highly relevant today, if we are willing to listen.

We need to be aware as investors that sudden, unexpected moves are possible in the markets.

Some time ago, I posted an article called The Schrodinger Wave Hypothesis that considers this possibility.

The post Fractal Warning is also worth re-reading, since as QE2 looms and sovereign debt increases relentlessly, the instability of the markets appears to be growing.

  3. Thanks for the link Bill.
It appears that some of the banks are up to their old tricks to speed up the foreclosure process by cutting corners. These types of shortcuts in the lending process are part of the reason why we have the real estate crisis to begin with.
Why is it that we can not seem to learn from our mistakes?
